Welcome!

pig imageHi! Welcome to Animal Knowledge! If you want to learn more about different types of animals, then your at the right place.  The reason why I want to do this blog is so people like you can learn more about reptiles, insects, mammals and more! This is my first blog, so please be patient with me.

I love animals; they are SO cool! I love the way they climb, crawl, slither and the way they feel! My favorite animal is a black panther, I think it’s cool how they camouflage at night with their jet black fur. Also because they live in tropical rainforests, ( which is my personal favorite habitat!)

Thank you again for checking out my blog! It means so much to me! Hope to see you next time!

African lungfish

The African lungfish is probably the coolest fish EVER! It has two lungs and can breath air. This fascinating fish lives in freshwater swamps, backwaters, and small rivers in west and south Africa. The bad thing is that their habitat dries up. to survive this problem, the African lungfish puts on a thin layer of mucus around itself , then it dries into a cocoon. it can live out of water in this cocoon for up to a year! The mucus, ( boogers) part is weird, but true.

FUN FACT!: Did you know that the African lungfish have survived for nearly 400MILLION years and are sometimes referred to as “living fossils.”

African glass catfish

The Pareutropius debauwi, ( African glass catfish) is in the Schilbeidae fish family. This fish can be found in Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Gabon. African glass catfish eat daphnia, mosquito larvae and vitamin-enriched brine shrimp. You can have this fish as a pet, but is VERY rare to find one at your local pet store. But you can get one on the internet!

FUN FACT! :   Did you know that the African glass catfish was the inspiration for the Pokémon Magikarp, but Nintendo thought of it first.
